London, United Kingdom, February 11, 2016 - On 10 February 2016 the
Top Employers Institute awarded the Top Employer 2016 Award to
petrochemical company SABIC for its good employment practices in the
United Kingdom. The certification awarded to SABIC for the 3rd
consecutive year, recognises SABIC's continuous focus on HR processes as
a key driver for achieving their vision to be a market leader in the
chemical industry. SABIC was honoured with the certification during an
evening of celebration at Guildhall in London.
Benchmarking and accreditation
The international Top Employers Institute performs yearly research on
employee practices around the globe, based amongst others on
independent assessments by auditing firm Grant Thornton. The
accreditation recognizes Employers of Choice, based on criteria such as
the extent of primary benefits, the quality of working conditions, the
level of professional development offered, opportunities for career
development, and culture management.
By benchmarking the results against others, companies receive
independent evaluations of their HR management, procedures and culture.
This helps them to further improve their employment standards and to
become a preferred employer for talented people within their competitive
environments.
Preferred Employership
SABIC operates in a competitive global business environment and aims
to become the global leader in the chemical industry. With over 40.000
employees, the company services customers around the world with
innovative and sustainable solutions.
Eduardo Perez-Cejuela, Sr HR Director Europe at SABIC explains: “We
are very pleased with this accreditation as it recognizes SABIC as a
good employer with excellent HR processes and practices, already three
years in a row. We are a global company with ambitious growth plans and
our employees are crucial. Good HR management, based on a long-term
vision is key to attract and retain good people. This award affirms that
SABIC is a good employer —not just in the United Kingdom and other
European countries, but also in other regions, such as Asia-Pacific,
where we have received the award for a number of consecutive years.”
John Bruijnooge, SABIC Site Director in Wilton commented: “SABIC is
already recognized as a leading employer in the Teesside area with a
world class reputation for innovation and industrial excellence. To
continue with our journey into the future, it is vital that we continue
to treat our people fairly, invest in our employees, and foster and
develop the talent of tomorrow. This fits alongside our global ambition
to be the preferred world leader in chemicals by 2025. We have always
believed that it takes special people to make a difference, so we create
the conditions for their talent to flourish. We are grateful for this
recognition that we are on the right path in all aspects of employee
management and people development.”
Along with the UK, SABIC is also in contention for the ‘Top Employer’
accreditation in the Netherlands for the 10th time, as well as four
other European countries (Spain, Italy, Belgium, Germany), and for its
pan-European practices throughout February. Furthermore, SABIC was
awarded the Top Employer certification in 2016 for its operations in
Asia Pacific. This broad spectrum of awards demonstrates SABIC’s
commitment across the company to maintain a culture that supports and
develops its employees.
